Lk. Davis is guided under Dave Stanley’s permit (Truckee River Outfitters)
Lake Davis is a actually a man made reservoir that was impounded in 1967. It is located approximately 7 miles from the town of Portola California. It was originally stocked heavily with both rainbow and cutthroat trout. These fingerlings grew very fast due to the immense aquatic food available to the fish created by the shallow mud bottom environment. The reservoir opened to fishing in 1968. The first three years were incredible! We started sight fishing it in 1969 with outstanding success. After a number of ups and downs through the years, including largemouth bass and a terrible pike infestation, Davis is hopefully getting back on track. The once prolific damsel, midge, and caddis hatches are returning along with a hexagenia mayfly hatch.
